This is the first of our Monthly Updates to W.A.R. This update changes almost every graphical aspect of the game for a higher quality state of graphics.
We are expecting a long list of bugs reported. We know there will be reports of graphics issues with rocks and textures as-well as many other things. Please continue to give us feedback as we track each and every bug reported.
The Fact is that if we do not continue to supply updates then we will continue to postpone releases. Again, WAR is a work in progress. An Evolving game. We appreciate your patience and input.
We want your input! -
We are aware of the following issues and will continue to work on them:
- Inconsistent fall damage,
- Unity 2019 broke their Grass/Detail for Terrain and we are currently working on an alternative, this will help fill in some of the ground
- Some textures and object scales are off, however we still ask that every one report them so we can track them and continue to bring out updates.
- Frame Rate is always being worked on, especially with the overhaul. This is an area we will be continuing to work on, it comes down to a balance between City/Environment Foliage vs. FPS
- Some object sets are missing, including Sky rise interior object sets. Things may look a little bare. We are forced to rebuilding them.
- 3D character in your inventory menu is missing - Layered Cameras in unity are changed and we are looking at alternatives.
- VoiceChat disabled / doesn't Work - We will be implementing a modernized alternative to this system.

Whats Been Going On?
First off, I would like to apologize for the small hiatus as it has been a very long few weeks, with very little public interaction.
In the last few weeks each one of us has had the opportunity to take some much needed time off from the project and back to life for at least a little bit. We are a very small team of 3, and through the course of the project we have not taken much time off over the last 3 years so this was a very big treat for us.
I’m sure you all understand; however, I do not like to leave things stale for too long.
We have been in full tilt since last week making more adjustments and getting the newest builds issues resolved.
We have fully updated the Project to Unity 2019, and resolved all the errors in doing so.
The project is now fully under High Definition and as such graphics have been improved 10 fold.
RAM Usage has been HALFED if not more… Currently on the newest build while in game, im using approx. 8 – 10 GB of RAM depending on Spawned items, and city buildings. We also believe this will be lower on Client only instances, as all our tests are hosted servers so far. This has come WAY down from 11-15 GIGS
This will vary depending on what has spawned In the server and we have seen it peak to 10 GB
The Total Project has been cleaned and is now a nice and Tidy 4-5GB Total in size, Requiring less Hard drive Space.
The new unity networking has made things a little more performance driven.
We have literally had to comb through the entire game, every object, texture, mesh, bundle, spawners, and rebuild the terrain in the last few weeks as some of these systems or items had problems with the new unity system, or there were better options now due to the upgrade.
What will happen moving forward? We are looking at moving away from weekly updates, and having Monthly Updates on the 1st of every month.
We are going to do this for a couple of reasons but mainly because
We feel we will be able to better manage and resolve bugs or issues on a per build basis
Doing a Monthly Update takes away some of the consistent pressure we are under.
Doing Monthly Updates will allow use to more robustly test newly added features and content
Planning and Scheduling can better be maintained and due dates adhered too in this fashion rather than weekly.
Allowing us to have some sort of personal time.
We are very proud to post some screenshots and a couple youtube video links of the improvements for you all to check out. Links and images will be at the bottom of this post.
We are looking to have the new version live to you all the 1st of this month.

We are right in the middle of updating W.A.R to new engine framework that is available, which should greatly improve graphics and networking capability.
These changes effect almost everything to do in the game are we have been working non stop to try to have a working update for today.
Sadly that just isn't the case and we will be postponing this weeks update to give us time to properly prepare.

May 12, 2019 - v0.109b - Hotfix - IPV6 Server listing Issue Resolved
With a big thanks to ne0n and BilboLaggin from our discord channel for helping bug test the connection issues. We have resolved the IPV6 issue, where there would be no server listings on machines that had IPV6 enabled.
This should all be cleared up now!

May 3, 2019 - v0.108 - HUGE WORLD UPDATE, Fixes and Voice chat!
We are proud to announce the next update for W.A.R which includes a completely redone world/terrain with a lot more detail.
This has been a long time coming!. The original terrain is almost 2 years old. and we definitely needed to bring some more UpToDate features to W.A.R!
Not only has the terrain been replaced we have taken steps to expand on it to include other terrain or islands!
The Terrain will also be a continued venture from this point forward as we add detail branching outward from the city and also expand.
Voice Chat has been added to the game. Quality will be improved with time and more testers.
Use O - To Toggle or P - PushToTalk
VoiceActivated will be accessible very soon.
Key Re-assignment / Keyconfig will be a priority moving forward.

April 27, 2019 - World Re-Creation, Graphics improvements, and Voice Chat
I wanted to take a moment to update every one on whats been happening. There will not be an update tonight, this friday, we are holding off till next friday as their is alot of overhauls we are doing. First we realise their is a need to improve on some graphics in the game in order to keep competitive. Our First step in tackling this is replacing the world, with a newly sculpted world. This of course takes time. And it will replace the current world which was made almost 2 years ago. While Red and Nick have been working on this portion i have been making progress with the backend VoiceChat system, but there are still some bugs. In order to keep stable and consistent builds, its important not to rush this one. We will still try to do updated every friday but this one requires some more time.
