World of Tanks

G.I. Joe Styles in World of Tanks

Commanders!

World of Tanks is bringing a special collaboration to Steam.

Created by Hasbro, G.I. Joe is one of the most popular action figure lines in the world. Generations of kids in the U.S. and beyond played with them and were captivated by the struggle of the international elite spec ops team against their sworn enemies of Cobra, a multi-faceted and masterfully coordinated global criminal network. Uncounted millions of battles which have been fought with plastic action figures (often commanded by present-day online tankers) have elevated G.I. Joe to the status of a cultural phenomenon.

And now, the famous adversaries from G.I. Joe and Cobra have come to World of Tanks to settle their scores in their impressive vehicles, the B.T.T. (having the same stats as the TS-5) and the B.O.A. (having the same stats as the T-54 first prototype).

The exteriors of the B.T.T. and the B.O.A. are non-historical; their display can be toggled on or off at any time in your Game Settings, under the General tab.

NOTE: This activity for CIS, NA and EU regions.

Transmission Incoming: Cobra Commander

Greetings from one Commander to another!

You know, Commander, they call me mercilessss. I would say effective... Oh... I managed to get to you before that fool Duke? Then disregard what I said. You see, me and my associates, we’re not just rebels at heart. We’re inventors, industrialists, and armored vehicle enthusiasts. I can see you are into powerful tanks. Look at this specimen we’ve recently assembled in our secret lair... I mean, our skunkworks facility. The Cobra B.O.A. can obliterate your enemies... and finally give ussss a chance to prevail over G.I. Joe. COBRA!!!

Transmission Incoming: Duke

Wherever there’s trouble, G.I. Joe is there, Commander!

I’m Duke, a G.I. Joe operative, and I’m honored to make your acquaintance. I’ll cut straight to the chase. Our intel has confirmed that Cobra have recently developed a new secret armored weapon to get an edge over us. So, we’re going to establish a presence in World of Tanks to contain the threat. We could use the help of a seasoned tanker like you, riding in our brand-new G.I. Joe Breakthrough Tank. The B.T.T. is well protected, packs quite a punch, and should be able to deal with that crazy Cobra gizmo, the B.O.A., should you meet on the battlefield. YO JOE!!

Park the B.O.A. and the B.T.T. in Your Garage!

We have prepared several packages with the new G.I. Joe and Cobra vehicles for you. Choose the one that fits your wishes (and your wallet) the most!

Available from July 16 at 12:00 CEST | 03:00 PT | 05:00 CT | 06:00 ET through July 30 at 12:00 CEST | 03:00 PT | 05:00 CT | 06:00 ET.

Legendary Tank Decals

The classic armored vehicles depicted on the decals in our G.I. Joe and Cobra packages are instantly recognizable to tankers who played with G.I. Joe action figures when they were kids.

G.I. Joe M.O.B.A.T. (Motorized Battle Tank, also Multi-Ordnance Battle Tank) first appeared in toy stores across the U.S. in 1982. In every box with a plastic vehicle (clearly resembling a real-life contemporary main battle tank), there was a figure of the driver named Steeler.

Cobra H.I.S.S. (High Speed Sentry), complete with a figure of a driver, was first released in U.S. toy stores in 1983. This futuristic war machine was armed with double Diablo cannons you could elevate and swivel.

Representing a different technological era, the M.O.B.A.T. and the H.I.S.S. didn’t make it into World of Tanks as playable armored vehicles. Instead, we’re introducing the B.O.A. and the B.T.T., which also embody the character of their respective factions to the full.

Awesome G.I. Joe and Cobra Inscriptions and Emblems

Getting the G.I. Joe and Cobra inscriptions and emblems for your favorite vehicles requires you to complete two sets of special missions, available from July 16 through July 30. Each set of missions will net you 9 customization elements from one of the factions, plus Personal Reserves. Those who obtain a package will have to complete a single mission to claim each set of these rewards.

Applying a G.I. Joe or Cobra inscriptions and emblems to your tank isn’t just about declaring your allegiance to one of the factions, but also a proclamation of your armored combat style, or even your current mood. So, what do you prefer today, Commanders? To smite or to bite?

Grab these G.I. Joe and Cobra goodies and join their timeless battle, Commanders!

Frontline 2021 will feature a reworked Combat Reserves system and will be closely integrated with Battle Pass. But most importantly, Tier IX vehicles will be allowed in this mode in a trial format. Let’s dig into the details.

Brief Overview

The Frontline 2021 core mechanics and progression system remain unchanged. Here’s a quick refresher, just in case:

 • Battles take place between 2 teams of 30 players on two huge 9 km² maps: Normandy and Kraftwerk.
 • Each team has its own objective. The attackers should break through the defense and destroy at least 3 of 5 pillboxes on enemy territory. The defenders should repel enemy attacks until the battle timer elapses.
 • To fight in Frontline, use any Tier VIII vehicles available in your Garage. Plus, Tier IX vehicles will be allowed in this mode in a trial format at a later part of battles (more details below).
 • You can also use special Tier VIII and IX rental vehicles to enter battle.
 • Play Frontline and Earn Battle Pass Points!
 • You can now receive Battle Pass Points when playing in all Frontline Stages. The number of Points you can earn will depend on your position in the post-battle ranking by Frontline Experience earned, as well as whether your team won or lost.

In total, you’ll earn 280 Battle Pass Points when you reach Frontline Tier 15.

Vehicles allowed in Frontline don’t have a Battle Pass Point Limit. You will receive Points in every Frontline vehicle in every battle, so long as the above conditions are met.

Combat Reserves Rework

In the 2021 Season, we’ve added three new Combat Reserves and reworked some of the existing ones. In total, there will be nine Combat Reserves divided into three categories: Attack, Recon, and Tactical. All vehicles will have three Combat Reserves slots, one for each category.

By reaching Frontline Tiers, you’ll earn Combat Reserves Points. Use them to unlock Combat Reserves on their dedicated screen. Once unlocked, you can select and assign Reserves to your vehicle. All Combat Reserves can be upgraded in the course of a battle after obtaining certain ranks. The maximum upgrade level of a particular Combat Reserve depends on the vehicle type in which you’re playing. Check it out:

Now, let’s take a look at each Combat Reserve category individually.

Attack Reserves

This category includes Combat Reserves that cause direct damage. Two of them, Airstrike and Artillery Strike, will be familiar to you. Airstrike is most effective against swift targets and large enemy formations, while Artillery Strike is best used against slow opponents and vehicles with decent armor.

The third—and new—Reserve is Minefield. Once activated, you can plant mines that will not only inflict damage upon but also stun your opponents. Minefield is more of a tactical Combat Reserve that will help keep enemies from advancing, cut off their retreat, and control strategic zones on the battlefield.

The mines planted by your allies will be marked with special indicators and won’t cause damage to or stun your vehicle.

Enemy Minefields will be automatically detected when they are within 50 meters of you. You can also spot them with the two Combat Reserves in the Recon category (more on that below). Destroy mines with a direct shot, as well as with Airstrike or Artillery Strike. Or deploy your own Minefield, after which both fields will be destroyed.

Recon Reserves

We’ve improved Smoke Screen, a Combat Reserve that blocks the enemy view range and conceals allies within the specified zone. Previously, it improved concealment while limiting the view range of all tanks inside; now, it’ll hide allied vehicles without imposing a view range penalty on them. Your opponents will receive a view range penalty with no bonus to concealment. In addition, you can now distinguish enemy and allied Smoke Screens by the color of the smoke: gray for allies and dark orange for enemy vehicles.

Recon Flight remains unchanged but will now enable you to detect enemy Minefields.

We’ve also added Sentinel, which will be especially useful for light tanks. This is a passive ability that takes effect if your vehicle is stationary for a few seconds, improving your view range. Upon activation, Stealth grants a bonus to concealment and gives you the Commander's Vision System property, which worsens the enemy's concealment. This bonus takes effect if enemy vehicles are stationary. In addition, this Combat Reserve will allow you to detect enemy Minefields within a radius of 250 m.

Tactical Reserves

Inspire now gives a significantly higher bonus to your vehicle's crew performance than to the allies around you. The bonuses to skills and perks of crews of allied vehicles will remain +15% to the major qualifications.

Engineering will no longer provide a bonus to restoring vehicle HP at Resupply Circle—this bonus will be moved to Field Repairs (more info below). Engineering will still give a 50–80% bonus to base capture speed and a 30–50% bonus to resupply speed, depending on its upgrade level. Additionally, when causing damage to an attacker, the base capture will be interrupted by five to 10 seconds, depending on the Combat Reserve upgrade level.

Field Repairs is a new Combat Reserve that instantly restores a significant percentage of a vehicle's HP and continues to restore it a little more for a few seconds. It also reduces the damage from Minefield while active. Field Repairs doesn’t stop, even if you take damage.

Combat Reserves Categorization

You will enter a battle with one Combat Reserve and gradually gain access to other Reserves from the remaining categories. You’ll be able to select one of the three available Reserves for each slot category. You can also upgrade Combat Reserves during battle when you achieve certain ranks.

Each vehicle type will have its own order of unlocking Combat Reserves, depending on their gameplay features. For example, at the start of a battle, heavy tanks will only have a Combat Reserve of their choice from the Attack category. As the battle goes on, they can unlock and select a tactical Reserve, then Reserves from the Recon category will be the last to be available. For light tanks, SPGs and tank destroyers, the Recon Combat Reserves slot will be the first to be available. Medium tanks will first gain access to tactical Reserves. Thanks to this system, you can improve the Combat Reserves that will allow you to be most effective in battle and use various strategies.

Get Ready to Fight in Tier IX Vehicles!

Tier IX tanks are popular vehicles with diverse gameplay, coveted by every Commander. You could have earned them as a reward in last year's Expedition (which shared a progression system with Steel Hunter) or in Battle Pass. But, except for Random Battles, there were no modes in the game where you could play them and fully unleash their high combat potential. Now, you can get a whole new gameplay experience and see these formidable vehicles in action in the most epic World of Tanks mode!

Start battles according to the standard rules: in a Tier VIII tank. But when the attackers capture at least one point of the second defense line (zones D, E, and F), all players, upon respawning after being destroyed, may pick a Tier IX vehicle to reenter the battle and strengthen their team.

If you enjoy playing Tier VIII tanks, you don't need to pick a Tier IX tank to rejoin the battle. You can still play the entire battle in Tier VIII Premium tanks and earn maximum credits, as always. However, Frontline's economy allows you to make a good profit in Tier IX vehicles, as well. After Tier IX tanks become available, you can play in them without restrictions, just like in Tier VIII tanks. And thanks to rental tanks, which you can also obtain for free, it’s very easy to enter battles in Tier IX vehicles.

The Frontline Garage will consist of two sections, each containing only Tier VIII and IX vehicles. If you want to join a battle in a Tier IX vehicle, don't forget to select and equip it before the fray begins—and the same applies to your Tier VIII vehicles.

Rental Vehicles

If you don’t have any Tier VIII and IX tanks in your Garage, you can rent vehicles. The following vehicles will be available at a fixed price in credits throughout the Stages:

Tier VIII rental tanks (available for 240000)

 • T32 FL
 • T-44 FL
 • Ferdinand

Tier IX rental tanks (available for 320000)

 • E 50
 • T-54
 • AMX M4 mle. 51
 • WZ-111 model 1-4
 • T30
 • Jagdtiger
 • Strv 103-0

Two more Tier IX rental vehicles, the M46 Patton and the Conqueror, can be obtained for free by achieving the second and fifth Frontline Tiers, respectively. All rental tanks are replicas of existing vehicles, with the same characteristics and properties.

We hope that all these changes will make your experience even more enjoyable. Get ready for intense 30vs30 clashes, Commanders!

Recon Mission: Explore New Maps and Earn Rewards!

Greetings, Commanders!

Exploring new maps is always very exciting. Fresh locations allow you to take a different look at the gameplay of various vehicles and experience battles in the most unusual corners of the world. But creating new maps for World of Tanks is a long and complex process, and we need your help to make them as good as they can be.

Update 1.13 will introduce a new mode to World of Tanks—Recon Mission. This experimental mode will be launched in separate Episodes, with the first Episode kicking off on July 5. Recon Mission will become an open collaboration platform where we’ll work together with you to improve and refine new maps that may be added to Random Battles in the future. Let’s see how it works.

[previewyoutube="dnBD07D9D4Q;full"]VIDEO [/previewyoutube]

Recon Mission Episode 1

July 5, 11:00 UTC through July 15, 23:59 UTC

3 Episodes, 9 New Maps

To enter the mode, select Recon Mission via the mode selector in your Garage and click the Battle! button.

This summer, we will launch three Recon Mission Episodes, each lasting 10 days. In each Episode, you can explore 3 new maps in the late stages of development. After playing 20 battles in Recon Mission, you’ll be able to vote for the map you like the most and the least in each Episode.

You can leave detailed feedback about each map in the special questionnaire shown below, and this will greatly help us improve and finalize these locales. Before you can share your opinions in the questionnaire about a specific map, you’ll need to play at least 6 battles on the locale. You can only give feedback about the maps of the current Episode, but you’ll have the opportunity to change your mind and share a different opinion in the questionnaire before the end of each Episode.

Your Feedback Is Crucial!

All maps in Recon Mission are pre-release prototypes designed for Random Battles. The gameplay experience on these maps is almost finalized, but the visuals may undergo further changes before release. Your feedback and the statistics we obtain will help us understand what balance adjustments and other final refinements are needed. The maps that are the most popular with the community will be prioritized for addition to the Random Battles map pool in future updates.

General Rules and Matchmaking

Battles in Recon Mission will follow the rules of Standard Battles with several changes.

 • Battles will take place in Tier VIII–X vehicles.
 • Personal and clan missions will not be available, but you can complete other battle missions, including Daily Missions.
 • The battle economy will be the same as in Random Battles.
 • You will be able to earn bonds, progressive customization decals, Mastery Badges, and Marks of Excellence.
 • The statistics of all Recon Mission battles will be counted in the statistics of Random Battles. Session statistics will not include Recon Mission battles.

You will be able to earn Battle Pass Points in the following ways:

[th]Position in the Post-Battle Ranking[/th][th]Victory[/th][th]Defeat/Draw[/th]

Top 3 by XP earned75

Top 10 by XP earned53

Recon Mission will feature single- and multi-tier battles. For multi-tier battles, the matchmaker will assemble battles so that there are more lower-tier vehicles than higher-tier ones. For example, in two-tier battles, the number of Tier VIII vehicles will be greater than that of Tier IX tanks, or the number of Tier IX vehicles will be greater than that of Tier X tanks.

Progression System and Rewards

Each Recon Mission Episode will have a separate progression system, consisting of 50 battles and its own set of rewards. After playing a certain number of battles, you will receive in-game goodies such as a cool all-season camo, Personal Reserves, and other prizes. After completing a series of 50 battles, you will also earn a special medal.

NOTE
Your result will only count if you reach the Top 12 of your team’s list at the end of a battle by XP earned. You can receive all rewards once per Episode.

Each Episode will feature a unique medal and a new camo that you can apply to any vehicle in your Garage.

Get ready to explore new maps and share your feedback, Commanders!

On July 5, we planned to launch the experimental Recon Mission mode, which was created to give you the opportunity to play on pre-release prototypes of game locations and choose, in your opinion, the most successful among them.

Unfortunately, when working on the matchmaker for this mode, we didn't take into account Tier VIII Premium vehicles with preferential matchmaking, and these tanks are sent into battles with Tier X vehicles. The release of Recon Mission with the current matchmaker would be the wrong decision which won’t match your expectations. With this in mind, we will not launch the first Stage and take a break to make the necessary adjustments to the matchmaker, as well as conduct an additional mode check to rule out possible additional issues.

Stay tuned, Recon Mission will return after we improve it! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Guide: How to Survive

Armor

All vehicles have armor to protect them from enemy fire. Some vehicles are heavily armored, while others are less shellproof, yet the armor on most vehicles follows a common principle: the front armor is usually thicker, while the sides and rear are more vulnerable. Hull armor thickness is measured in millimeters. In vehicle characteristics, these values are displayed as front/side/rear armor. If a vehicle has 75/45/45 mm hull armor, a shell with a 60 mm standard penetration will pierce its sides and rear (assuming a direct hit) but will not penetrate the front.

IS-3 armor scheme. The variations of color represent different values of armor thickness in millimeters.
Apart from the side and rear armor, most vehicles have common weak spots: the lower glacis plate, the commander’s cupola, and the top surface of the turret.

Armor Penetration

A crucial factor in determining penetration is the angle at which the shell hits the target’s armor. The ideal angle is perpendicular to the armor plate—in this case the shell has to pass through the least possible amount of armor plate in order to penetrate it. The perpendicular shell trajectory—the shell striking the armor plate exactly "square on"—is referred to as the normal.

The deviation from the normal is the so-called impact angle which determines the effective armor thickness. It is the actual armor thickness the shell must plow through in order to penetrate and deal damage. The greater the impact angle, the greater the effective thickness of the armor.

Keep in mind though, shells do not always penetrate vehicle armor. They can also bounce off the surface—this is called a ricochet. A ricochet can occur with Armor-Piercing (AP) and Armor-Piercing Composite Rigid (APCR) shells if the angle at the point of impact is greater than 70 degrees. High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) shells can ricochet at angles greater than 85 degrees. Only High-Explosive (HE) shells never ricochet: if they don’t penetrate the armor, they explode on its surface.

NOTE: There is another important rule of ricochet mechanics: if the AP or APCR shell caliber is more than three times the nominal thickness of the armor, no ricochet will happen at any impact angle. HEAT shells ricochet at angles greater than 85 degrees, regardless of the caliber.

Remember these core rules of penetration and ricocheting when firing at enemy vehicles. Always try to reduce your shells’ angle of impact to maximize the chance of penetration. Moreover, you can make the most of your own armor and increase your chance of survival. Don’t face the incoming fire directly: keeping your armor offset slightly will increase the impact angle of incoming shots, as well as your effective armor thickness.

Effective Shooting

Here are some useful techniques that you can use in combat to deal more damage.

To hit a moving target, aim and shoot at the front or ahead of the enemy vehicle. The greater the distance and the greater the speed of the enemy vehicle, the farther ahead you should aim.

Auto-Aim

Activate Auto-Aim when you are focused on maneuvers and cannot aim your gun manually. It allows you to automatically lock on an enemy vehicle, aiming at its middle.

Important: Auto-Aim does not take into account the opponent's weak spots, movement, and terrain obstacles.

Destroying Modules

Your enemy is so tough that your shells do little or no damage? Switch to destroying modules—tracks, in particular. This tactic is especially effective against heavily armored vehicles of a higher tier. Damaging tracks can keep the opponent immobilized so that your more powerful allies can focus and destroy the enemy. At the end of battle, you will be rewarded for the damage caused by your assistance.

Important: Pay attention to the specific damage mechanics of wheeled vehicles' suspension. Destroying it with one shot is almost impossible—you are more likely to destroy one or several wheels. With each wheel destroyed, a wheeled vehicle is slowed but does not stop completely. Destroy all the wheels to make its speed drop to the absolute minimum, leaving it with no chance of escape.

Terrain and Cover

Safe Positions

Always take advantage of terrain on the battlefield! Hide behind boulders, hills, and buildings to protect yourself from enemy fire or while you wait for your gun to reload. To stay safe from SPG fire, take cover behind large rocks, buildings, and other tall, massive objects.

In addition to staying safe, you can use terrain to gain a position from which you can fire effectively without taking damage yourself. The tank in the picture is positioned behind a rise, so that opponents can see only its heavily armored turret. Meanwhile, the more vulnerable hull is hidden and safe.

Dangers on the Maps

Be cautious in your maneuvers: terrain can be dangerous! Don’t plunge off steep cliffs! If you’re lucky, you’ll just take damage to your vehicle, modules, and crew, but most likely, your vehicle will be destroyed.

Lakes, bays, deep rivers and canals—any deep water can be hazardous. Be careful while driving across bridges or finding shallow places to cross deep water. If your vehicle—specifically, the engine compartment—goes under water, you have only 10 seconds to save it from drowning.

Upon performing extreme maneuvers, your vehicle may fall onto its side or even overturn – light and fast vehicles have this issue more often. A vehicle laying on its side is not only immobilized, but also almost defenseless: its view range, accuracy, and firing speed are significantly impaired. An overturned vehicle cannot fire at all and self-destructs after 30 seconds.

Your teammates can push your vehicle carefully to put it back onto its tracks, but this does not always work.

Spotting and Concealment

Vehicle’s View Range

It’s hard to fight an enemy you can’t see. The earlier you spot enemy vehicles, the more advantage you have in battle. That’s why spotting is one of the core elements of the World of Tanks game mechanics.
View Range is the maximum distance at which your vehicle can spot opponents. This parameter is defined by vehicle characteristics, modified by crew perks and skills.

To have a complete picture of your vehicle spotting and view range capability, you can use special circles on the minimap that depict proximity spotting range, view range, maximum spotting range and vehicle draw distance.

1. Proximity Spotting Circle. A 50 m radius in which the vehicle is automatically spotted despite obstacles and concealment.
2. View Range Circle. Shows the View Range value of your vehicle, adjusted in accordance with the skills and perks of your crew and equipment mounted on your vehicle.
3. Maximum Spotting Range. The maximum spotting range of all vehicles cannot exceed 445 meters. Even if your View Range exceeds this value, you won’t be able to spot an enemy on your own beyond this distance; however, it will be easier for you to detect concealed vehicles within this range.
4. Draw Circle. Shows the maximum draw range within which other players’ vehicles can be seen on your battle screen. This value is always 565 meters.

NOTE: You can turn on the display of these circles in the game settings. Go to the General tab and select the necessary options in the View range Indicators on the Minimap section.

Another essential component in spotting and keeping track of the enemy is Signal Range. Your vehicle’s Signal Range is the maximum distance at which you can exchange information with your allies about other vehicles’ position. Signal Range values are defined by radio characteristics and can be modified by crew perks and skills.

If your ally spots an enemy and is within range to share this information with you, the icon of the spotted vehicle will appear on your minimap, even if the vehicle is beyond your Draw Range and cannot be seen directly. So you’d be wise to get the best radio available!

Concealment

Staying out of the enemy’s sight will help you survive the battle and deal more damage. Learn to conceal your vehicle!

Thick bushes and fallen trees can conceal your vehicle. Remember, your entire vehicle must be blocked by the foliage, otherwise you will not be hidden. The exception to this rule is your gun: if your gun extends beyond the bush, it will not ruin your concealment.

If you are within 15 meters of the bush, you will be able to see other vehicles through it. You’ll be not only out of sight, but also in position for an ambush.

! A vehicle is concealed the most when it is not moving. Only Tier V or higher light tanks keep their concealment values unchanged while moving or standing still. Concealment drops dramatically when you fire a gun. Shooting also negatively affects the flora within a 15-meter radius, making it transparent. At the same time, gun and turret traverse do not affect the concealment of any stationary vehicle.

You can improve your vehicle's view range and reduce its visibility by using equipment, consumables, special crew perks and skills, camouflage, and Directives.

Tanks and Tactics
World of Tanks features five vehicle types, and each of them requires certain tactics on the battlefield.

Light Tanks. Light tanks are the eyes and ears of the team. They are the fastest tanks and have great View Range, but usually thin armor and fairly poor firepower.
Medium Tanks. Multi-purpose combat vehicles. They combine mobility, firepower, and relatively good armor, so they are useful both in frontline combat and in a support role from mid-range. However, Medium tanks should not fight alone: a solo medium tank is typically easy prey, while several in a pack can quickly dismantle opponents.
Heavy Tanks. Heavily armored vehicles with powerful guns. Their main role is to push a flank or meet an enemy push, dealing massive damage and blocking enemy fire with their thick armor. This type of vehicle is relatively slow and usually has a low fire rate. Also note that heavy tanks are usually the favorite targets of enemy SPGs.
Tank Destroyers. These are snipers with accurate and powerful guns. Generally compact and easy to hide, they seek to fire at long distances while staying completely unseen. Tank destroyers are often turretless, poorly armored, and slow, so they are vulnerable in close combat.
Self-Propelled Guns. SPGs, also known as artillery, provide long-range firepower for the team. They are able to hit targets almost anywhere on the map, and their HE shells deal splash damage, sometimes to several vehicles at a time. Shells of 150 mm caliber and greater also have a stun effect, which temporarily weakens all vehicle characteristics of the target. SPGs are slow, and their armor is extremely weak.

Just never forget: The longer your vehicle's in the battle, the more useful you'll be!

New DLC release Summer Sale.

Today we’ll tell you about 6 new DLC packages and share some information about the vehicles included and their playstyles. Unlike the Warhammer DLC, these packages will be available for a long time.

French Express, Seafaring Viking, and Heavy Cavalry are all on sale until 8 of July.

Let's take a closer look at the 6 DLCs:

Tiger 131 (Tier VI German heavy tank)

If you want to play hard and to be on the very first line on the battlefield, then heavy tanks are perfect for you. Welcome the Steel Tiger DLC, which features the Tiger 131. It might not be the best sniper, but if you get close to your enemies, they’ll be in some real trouble, because your DPM is pretty impressive.

Firepower. The Tiger 131 boasts very good DPM, aiming time and accuracy. If you’re all about damage dealing, then this is a perfect choice for you at Tier VI. This Tiger struggles to snipe at long distances unless you give the correct amount of lead. As they say, practice makes perfect—you’ll eventually get used to it.

Speed. A good traverse speed helps with angling your armor and will mean your enemies have less chance of penetrating it.

The Tiger 131 was captured by the British Army’s 48th Royal Tank Regiment in Tunisia. The British performed a full examination of the tank, and eventually it became part of an exhibit at the Bovington Tank Museum. The 131 remains the only functional Tiger in the world.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • 700,000 credits
 • 3 Demount Kits

M4 Loza (Tier VI Soviet medium tank)

Did you know the USSR has its own Sherman? With the Heroic Sherman DLC you will get your hands on the M4 Loza, a Tier VI medium tank, as well as the legendary commander, Dmitry Loza. This vehicle’s a great choice if you enjoy active assault play and changing your positions.

Crew. You'll have Dmitry Loza leading your crew, but why would you want anyone else?

Firepower. This tank has good damage per minute and a good rate of fire, and one of the best gun depressions. However, the penetration leaves a bit to be desired, so you need to be quite accurate with your shells and know the weak spots of enemy tanks.

Protection. This tank works well as an assault vehicle, but it doesn’t boast impressive armor, so you still need to be careful and perform a lot of maneuvers on the battlefield.

Speed. The M4 Loza is practically a clone of the famous M4A3E8 Sherman, but without its mighty Ford engine. As a result of the weaker engine power and additional weight, the Loza Sherman is nowhere near as mobile as the Easy Eight. You can try out the old tactics, but it’s unlikely you’ll be successful in doing so.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • 700,000 credits
 • 3 Demount Kits

Cromwell B (Tier VI British medium tank)

The Lightweight Fighter DLC comes with the dangerous Cromwell B. This famous tank has taken part in a lot of battles and can help you win some of your own. This tank is fast, and its gun can turn the tide of the battle. Still, this is a medium, not a heavy tank, so you need to watch out and not allow your rivals to get too many shots in.

Cromwell B. The B stands for Berlin. The vehicle was made famous by the British 7th Armored Division. In their Cromwells they fought across France and into Germany, and eventually took part in the Victory Parade on September 7, 1945, in Berlin.

Speed and Firepower. There are two things that stand out about the Cromwell: It’s quick-firing gun can tear enemies apart and it boasts amazing speed. This tank plays nearly identically to the standard Cromwell, being able to be used as either an aggressive flanker or a mid-range support medium tank.

Protection. It’s a delicate tank and care must be taken to not take hits in the early stages of battle, as it will lower your ability to engage harder targets later on.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • 700,000 credits
 • 3 Demount Kits

AM 39 Gendron-Somua (Tier II French light tank)

This DLC’s name speaks for itself: French Express. The AM 39 Gendron-Somua is a French wheeled vehicle. It can reach high speeds and has an accurate gun. Wheeled vehicles are a special type, and it may take some practice to get used to not having tracks.

Speed. This is a light and very maneuverable vehicle. However, one thing you need to know about wheels—you can’t turn on the spot.

Protection. This vehicle doesn’t have much HP so you need to keep some distance between yourself and the enemies and choose the right time to attack while they can’t get a shot in.

Firepower. The AM 39 has an accurate gun with a high rate of fire. Your best tactics will utilize your maneuverability, concealment and the strengths of your gun.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • 3 days of WoT Premium Account

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1662503/World_of_Tanks__French_Express_Pack/

Strv m/42-57 Alt A.2 (Tier VI Swedish medium tank)

The Seafaring Viking DLC contains the Strv m/42-57 Alt A.2. This Tier VI medium tank features a clip, and its damage potential is impressive. Like the majority of medium tanks, you will have to change positions and find the best place then and there to support your teammates.

Firepower. One of the best ranged vehicles at Tier VI, it boasts excellent dispersion. And let’s not forget the great damage potential: 600 average damage per clip and reload time of less than 16 seconds.

Protection. It has very thin armor and a low HP pool, but it’s a relatively small target. You’ll mostly see it in bushes, with binoculars and a camo net, chipping away at an opponent's HP before retreating into cover.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • "Surströmming" 2D Style
 • 7 days of WoT Premium Account

50TP prototyp (Tier VIII Polish heavy tank)

When you need some heavy power, bring in the 50TP prototyp, the Tier VIII Polish heavy tank from the Heavy Cavalry DLC. With its impressive gun depression, alpha damage and turret armor you can push the battle avenues and give your team many opportunities to grab the win.

Firepower and spotting. This vehicle is a great choice if you like using ridgeline tactics on the battlefield. This Pole has outstanding gun depression and as good alpha damage (output in one shot) as the Object 252U Defender, and even boasts a superior view range—very handy for exposing your enemies.

Speed. The 50TP prototyp, much like many heavies, is a rather slow vehicle. You’ll need to plan what position you want to take up in advance because you can’t rely on your reverse gear to save you from danger.

Protection. With great turret armor and good alpha damage, you’ll be a great support to your teammates by dishing out heaps of damage.

The 50TP prototyp features the unique ’Winged Hussar’ style, so this heavy is adorned in paintings of horsemen with spears, and the Polish flag on the sides.

Also in the package:

 • Garage Slot
 • 100% crew (Commander with Sixth Sense)
 • The ‘Winged Hussar’ 2D Style
 • 30 days of WoT Premium Account

Guide: Dog Tags

In World of Tanks, a Dog Tag is your unique “battlefield signature” that displays some of your in-game achievements (along with other bits of info). Your opponents see your Dog Tag right after you destroy their vehicles.
Learn everything about this feature, and then get ready to show the world what you’re made of!

[previewyoutube="F2H74H_BdIk;full"]

Basics

To see your Dog Tag, go to your Player Account page from the Garage, and then click Personal Dog Tag in the lower-left part of the screen. There you can find all possible Dog Tag elements, view the ones you’ve obtained, customize your Dog Tag, and learn how to unlock elements you don't yet have.

Dog Tags consist of three independent elements:

• Player and clan name: This element cannot be modified. It only changes when you choose a different player name or join another clan. If you have the Anonymizer enabled in the game settings, your opponents will see randomized information in place of your actual player name and clan name.
• Background: This can be obtained by performing certain feats in battle. You can switch backgrounds via the corresponding tab on your Personal Dog Tag screen.
• Engraving: This is the most important part as it displays the main information that your defeated opponents will see. The reverse side of the Dog Tag shows details about the achievement that the engraving was received for, such as the number of battles fought or your victory rate.
• To unlock Engravings, you must meet certain conditions.

Engraving Types

Engravings show statistics of your gaming experience, battle performance, and special battle achievements that you can proudly boast of to other players. There are three types of Engravings, each with its own progression. When you reach a certain stage of the Engraving's conditions, its level automatically increases and its appearance changes. Check out what you can engrave on your Dog Tag below.

Dedication Engravings

These Engravings indicate your long-term game statistics in Random Battles (including Grand Battle). To unlock a Dedication Engraving, you need to meet its initial condition.
Dedication Engravings have 10 levels. If you have already met the conditions for prior levels, they will automatically be considered completed. Your current level will be displayed directly on the Dog Tag.

Skill Engravings

These Engravings display your superior battle mastery. To unlock them, you need to enter the Hall of Fame and play in Ranked battles, and then improve your scores at least once every three months to go up. Once unlocked, higher Skill Engraving levels that reflect your progress will become available for you at the end of each month.
The Dog Tag shows your position in the Hall of Fame on a 10-point scale. It will display your best result for the last three months, excluding the current one. In other words, not only do you need to reach a certain skill level, but you also need to maintain it.

Triumph Engravings

These Engravings highlight exceptional results achieved in Random battles fought in Tier VIII–X vehicles. Triumph Engravings are unlocked after a battle during which a specific challenging condition was met, such as dealing record damage. Similar achievements are available for players in Platoons. There are also certain Engravings that can be earned only by playing in a Platoon.
Triumph Engravings have four levels.

Combined with the backgrounds you can obtain, these Engravings will transform your Dog Tag into a truly unique battle ‘signature’.

Interacting with Dog Tags

• For your destroyed opponents, Dog Tags are displayed in the center of the battle screen.
• For you, by default, Dog Tags of destroyed opponents will pop up above the minimap during battles. Press and hold Ctrl and hover over the opponent's Dog Tag to learn more about the defeated player. However, if you find this distracting, you can turn off the display of Dog Tags in the game settings.
• You can choose to show enemies a random Engraving without your personal statistics. Simply enable this option in the game settings.

Like progressive customization elements, Marks of Excellence, and badges, Dog Tags reflect your passion for the game. We hope you’ll enjoy customizing your very own combat calling card to show your opponents just how good you are at World of Tanks!

Create your own unique Dog Tag and let your enemies know exactly what you're made of!

Update 1.13: New Mechanics, Rebalancing, and More!

Update 1.13 for World of Tanks is coming your way, and we haven't had such a big one in a long time! It introduces the reworked mechanics for dealing damage with HE shells and new features for countering SPGs. We’re continuing to work on rebalancing popular vehicles and improving combat effectiveness of three light tanks and 6 Clan Wars reward vehicles . In Update 1.13 you will also see a new mode called Recon Mission, a fresh set of interface solutions, the reworked Minsk map, and several other new features. Enjoy!

HE Shells Reworking and Changes to Vehicles and SPGs

With your help we completed a whole series of Sandbox, Common and supertests. The changes we roll out in this Update will affect HE shell mechanics, SPG's and other vehicles. It was a complex task, but we succeeded together! Watch the video below and see how the new mechanics work.

[previewyoutube="Mbp2B31N5ko;full"]VIDEO[/previewyoutube]

Complex Rework of HE Shells

One of the most important features of this large update is the complex rework of HE shells. In the new system, HE shells will be able to penetrate armor and cause damage at the point of impact. They will also be able to penetrate screens, tracks, the wheels of wheeled vehicles at the point of impact as well as insignificant and/or destructible obstacles.

Changes to Vehicles and SPGs

Non-SPG players now have 3 new tactical features at their disposal to counteract artillery:
1. Sound Detection (aka "Sixth Sense for Arty")
2. Brighter shell tracers
3. Field of fire markers on the minimap
Another new feature is the reworked Intuition perk, which will still be available for the Loader to learn. It will become a skill that allows you to greatly speed up the process of changing the shell type and will be available for all vehicles in the game.
SPGs will now have three available shell types. Each of them will feature its own combat purpose, trajectory, and velocity, so you will now have a greater variety of tactical opportunities. Two of these shell types will not cause stun, which will significantly reduce the total stun duration in battles. We’ve also refined the interface for SPG players.

[previewyoutube="w5Q0PUOCrQI;full"]

Premium Tanks Rebalancing

In Update 1.13, three light tanks will receive improvements. We’re updating their combat parameters and enhancing their strengths to improve their gameplay.
The M41D will now become more confident in its role as a fast and mobile scout. We slightly increased its maximum forward and reverse speed, and improved its view range from 390 to 410 meters. The FV1066 Senlac also received an increased view range (from 400 to 410 meters), and its gun became more accurate. The T92 received a slight increase in armor penetration for both standard and special shells.
In addition to light tanks, we’ve improved the performance of the popular tank destroyer, the ISU-130. This vehicle now boasts increased engine power and horizontal aiming angles. We also increased the armor penetration of both standard and special shells, as well as the velocity of standard and HE shells.

Clan Wars Reward Tanks Rebalancing

We also took a closer look at the combat performance of 6 Clan Wars reward vehicles. We’ve improved the characteristics of two Tier X tanks (the M60 and the 121B) and four Tier VII–VIII vehicles (the IS-5, the Т23Е3, the Chieftain /T95, and the KV-4 Kreslavskiy). Their gameplay will not change, but now they can better perform their proper roles.

Mode Selection Interface Improvements

Now it will be more convenient for you to choose the mode you want to play! We’re introducing a standard full-size screen with separate windows for the available in-game modes. Each mode will feature a brief preview and a more detailed description on a separate page. You will also be able to track your progression in some of the modes you play.

Interface Improvements Continue!

We continue to implement the most useful solutions inspired by popular mods. You can now track the HP of both allies and opponents in the player list and on the minimap, so you’ll have more room to take smarter strategic decisions. You will also be able to better analyze the combat situation on the battlefield and find more opportunities for taking crucial positions, changing flanks or performing other maneuvers thanks to Commander Camera. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to look over obstacles and observe the spotted enemy vehicles using Tactical View.

Minsk Map Rebalancing

Many of you have asked us to improve the Minsk map to make battles on it more comfortable and exciting. Following your feedback, we made several improvements to this locale where Wargaming was born and:
· Lowered the water level in the Svisloch River, which resulted in many additional shelters and firing positions.
· Removed some objects that interfered with lines of fire.
· Optimized the volume of helicopters and planes flying over the map.
· Introduced other balance changes.
Plus, the season on the map has changed to autumn, and as such, visibility on the locale has improved in some areas.
Now the map will become more versatile in the choice of flanks and allow teams to implement creative new tactics.

Replacing Blueprint Fragments

We’ve also improved the blueprints system. Now countries of different national formations in the "Second Front" Personal Missions campaign will provide each other with mutual assistance. If, when creating a blueprint for a vehicle, you don't have enough national fragments, you can replace them with national fragments of the allied nation at a 1:6 ratio. For example, if you don’t have enough German national fragments to create a blueprint for a German vehicle, then you can use six Japanese national fragments instead.

Try Out New Maps in Recon Mission!

A new mode is coming to World of Tanks—Recon Mission. In this mode, you can explore maps that are in the late stages of development. After playing a certain number of battles in Recon Mission, you’ll be able to vote for one of the maps available for your consideration and fill a special survey. Your feedback will help us better understand what adjustments need to be made on a particular map to make battles on it more enjoyable.

Brace Yourselves for Battle Pass Season 5!

Get ready to win tons of valuable rewards in Battle Pass Season 5, Commanders! It will run for 3 months and consists of three Chapters, each comprising 50 consecutive Stages. Battle Pass Season 5 will feature three new Core Vehicles:
· AMX 50 B
· CS-63
· FV217 Badger
You’ll be able to choose one of the three new progressive styles for the three Core Vehicles at the beginning of each Chapter. Showcase your skills in intense battles, and you will have the opportunity to earn a new piece of Bounty Equipment (Bounty Low Noise Exhaust System), up to three custom crew members, and other valuable rewards!

Ranked Battles Season X

A new test season – Season X is coming to Ranked Battles. Kicking off on June 28, this experimental Season features an updated format of battles and other changes. The test Season will run for two weeks instead of the usual three. Battles in Season X will take place between two teams, with 10 players instead of 15 on each, and the number of chevrons you need to earn to move from one rank to another will be reduced.
Season X is not associated with the Annual Reward and Rank Tokens, but features unique rewards: a brand-new piece of improved equipment , Improved Compressor, and a new Directive called Fuel Filter Replacement. Get ready for adrenaline-fueled battles and share your impressions – your feedback will help us decide which format the next cycle of Ranked Battles will take in 2021-2022.

To Battle, Commanders!
